Penka is a perfectly bilingual (French and English) and dynamic young lady. She is passionate about languages, writing, and teaching. Over the years, Penka has demonstrated great teaching skills through individual private tutoring; engaging students with patience and gentleness. Aside from making good use of her passion for teaching, Penka is a jurist and PhD student in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health, University of Cape Town, South Africa. She is a researcher and lead evidence broker at eBASE Africa with 4 years of experience. She is also the Vice Chair of the GIN African Regional Community. Penka has expertise in knowledge translation and research evidence dissemination to policymakers, practitioners, and community members (specifically non-digital, indigenous, and undeserved community members). She is experienced in conducting rapid reviews, mixed-method quantitative and qualitative research, and stakeholder engagement. Penka is fluent in both English and French, with a track record of translating research synthesis from English to French with GIN Public, Africa Evidence Network, Cochrane, and McMaster University under the COVID-19 RecMap Project. She is experienced in working within Francophone and Anglophone Africa.
Penka is an award-winning traditional storyteller. She has led the development of the storytelling systematic approach used within eBASE Africa for research evidence dissemination, which has been the subject of training with the Western Cape government in South Africa, training with the South African Centre for Evidence, webinars with WHO, workshops at the African Evidence Conference 2023 in Entebbe, Uganda, GIN Conference 2023, and received funding from the French Embassy, Grant Challenges Canada, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research under Ecovid-19 RecMap, and GAVI under the Sabine Institute of Health.
