I have a master's degree in English literature and have worked with high school, college, adult basic eduation, and English language learning students from a variety of backgrounds. From analyzing classic literature to dissecting Marvel movies to biology lab reports, I enjoy helping students improve their ability to express themselves through their writing in all subjects. Spanish is my second language and I am currently learning French, so I understand the challenges that are specific to students who are writing in their non-native language. I believe that an essential part of learning is feeling comfortable enough to offer one's thoughts. During my lessons, I ask more questions than I provide simple answers. This is to help the student think critically about the subject at hand, as I find many have excellent ideas about their subjects, even if they do not yet know how to express those ideas. Even if every idea is not quite right for the assignment or subject, each one can lead us in a beneficial direction. Read less
